Leah gave a half-hearted smile and wave as she stepped out of her cousin’s family home. She hated these visits, having to be polite with her aunt and uncle. It wasn’t that she hated them, she just hated being there, knowing that their daughter was to marry Sam. They were lovely people, just like Emily was but she could see the pity in their eyes and of course she could hear them whispering in the kitchen just as clearly as if they were talking in her ear.
Letting out an exasperated sigh, Leah stuck her hands into her denim short and began the walk down the road toward where she’d parked her dad’s old truck. Kicking off her flip-flops she bent down for a moment to pick them up, pausing at a strange scent that caught her attention. However she shook it off quickly; it was probably one of Quil’s old scents from when he came and visited Claire.
Straightening up she carried on walking, her toes digging into the ground, the mixture of dirt and sand creeping between her toes. It was cool against her hot skin, comforting almost. Nearing her truck, she glanced at it and the chipped white paint, her hand running over bonnet before she changed direction and headed toward the bay.
In reality, she’d missed this place. She missed the times when she’d come and visit Emily and the two of them would just walk around and enjoy each other’s company. It was a sad truth that pained her, that pained her even more so when she thought about why that had changed and how it never happened again.

Noah growled loudly as a car passed him on the road, sounding it's horn at the large muscular man as he carried 4 heavy planks of wood on his left shoulder, a bag of tools being carried in his right hand. His truck had chosen the perfect day to break down, 2 miles up the road lay the battered truck and since Noah was in no mood to sit and try and fix it today he'd left it on the layby, knowing no one would take it due to the state it was in.
As he walked, Noah kept a keen eye on his surroundings, experience telling him to always be on his guard. In a way he half hoped something would jump out, some leech would make itself known to him. He could use the sport of ripping it apart, any leach would do, he wasn't exactly fussy, they were all fair game now after what they'd done to his family. If he couldn't have his revenge on the ones who'd commited the brutal murders then he'd gladly tear through every other leach he came across till he could get his revenge.
His heavy footsteps hit the gravel, he was close to home now, or at least what was left of it. As his eyes narrowed in on the road he was to take, that would lead to the family home, he saw a young woman and was hit with a wave of familiarity. She wasn't looking his way but he knew without a shadow of a doubt he knew her, and as he drew closer, a small smile spread on his rugged face, not touching his dark eyes, "Leah Clearwater...been a while since I seen you around these...." his words trailed off as he dropped his tool bag and the world around him faded away till there was only her, she was all that mattered and as he found himself pulled closer to her, unable to say anything more...

Leah smelt him before she heard him, the breeze sending his scent down wind towards her. She stiffened, a fear sending a rippling through her body and her hands clasped tightly into fists, nails digging into her palms. That wasn't possible. A wolf they didn't know about? Leah had the sudden urge to run, but there was something about his scent that over-powered that instinct, keeping her feet firmly planted on the ground as she came to a sudden stop.
She heard his voice next, deep and smooth tones that sent a strange shiver through her body, but not the kind that made her phase. It was reassuring for some strange reason and Leah most certainly recognised it. "Noah." Leah said in a calm and slightly constricted tone, keeping her eyes ahead of her and away from the Makah boy who she and Emily had once ran around giggling after at the age of 6.
"I don't spend much time up here these days. I've got nothing of interest to bring me here anymore." She explained stiffly before jumping as what sounded like a tool bag hit the floor. Jaw locking as she felt his foot steps nearing her, the warmth of his body wash over her causing Leah to blink slightly in shock. She was used to the males of the pack being warmer than her, but the heat coming from him was intense, making the hairs on the back of her neck stand up.

Noah stopped walking, his steps had brought him closer to Leah, but using every bit of strength in him he forced himself to stop just out of arms reach from her, he knew what had happened and the shifter side of him rejoiced, his human side too, maybe he didn't have to be so lonely anymore, but another part of him, the deep, dark part fought to hang onto the anger he'd felt since his families murder, he needed that anger that hatred if he was to get revenge.
A warmth flooded through him, sending sparks to every nerve ending in his body. His free hand craved to reach out and touch her, her scent was intoxicating, attacking his senses one by one, almost sending him into a dizzying state of bliss. He had almost gotten lost in her presence, her scent consuming him, but when she spoke he heard the pain in her voice, her stiff reply. Someone had hurt her, and if memory served him right it was that jackass Sam Uley, had they been engaged not to long ago? Emily running off with her cousins boy-friend had been the source for a lot of gossip around these parts for a couple of years now.
Leah had yet to turn around and look at him, so some unknown force pushed Noah another step forward, his eyes trained solely on the woman in front of him. "Look at me," he said to her, his voice low and husky.

Her lips parted at the tone of Noah’s voice as he spoke to her again, gasping almost silently at how it sent a shiver of pleasure down her spine. The temptation to turn, to do as Noah had asked was almost unbearable for her as if something was trying to tug her around. But the She-wolf held her ground and quickly closed both her eyes and mouth as irritation replaced the moment of pleasure.
No one told her what to do and even if they did she hardly ever obeyed unless it was Sam, and even then she had no choice because he used that horrible Alpha timbre that she physically could not ignore. Why should this man she hardly knew be any different? Since when did Leah Clearwater ever do as she was told or requested? The answer was simple; never.
His step forward didn’t help; putting her instantly on edge. Did he not realise what she was considering he too was a Shapeshifter? Surely her scent wasn’t that different from male wolves? Eyes snapping open and with a slight scowl, Leah started walking again ignoring the voice that told her to stop. “Why should I, Wolf-Boy?” She called out, lips curling slightly as her long legs easily put some distance between them.

Noah smirked seeing the irritation coursed through her, he could almost feel it flooding off her in waves. Using his free hand he wiped it over his mouth in an attempt to hide the growing smile, rubbing his stubbled chin he let his hand drop and kept his eyes focused on the woman in front of him. Now Noah wasn’t stupid, he could smell her, smell what she was, it should have been impossible but here she was, living proof. Leah was a shape shifter, and here Noah had thought only the Makah’s had transformed...he stored this information about the Quileute’s away for later.
Leah was on edge he could see that, and to his shock and irritation she began walking away from him, causing the beast inside of him to roar in protest. Noah though held his ground his eyes following her, ”Little old to be wanting to play a game of chase aren’t you Leah?” he asked, fire burning in his eyes. The imprint made him want to be near her, the thought of them parting ways now incensed him, but Noah refused to run after her, it wasn’t in his nature, he didn’t chase anyone and if she chose to walk away from this now, he’d accept that. From what little he knew of imprinting, he knew it would be hard but Noah was nothing but stubborn, stubborn enough to hold his ground.
Bending down, he scooped up the tool bag once more, his eyes focusing again on her retreating form, and he couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped, ”Now I really didn’t think you Quileute’s had it in you.” he said in regards to the shape shifter gene.

Leah burst out laughing at Noah’s comment and couldn’t help but smile to herself. “I’d out run you any day, Malhotra.” She said, her strides slowing slightly without her even realising it, something at the back of her mind disliking the distance she was putting between them. “Trust me; I’m faster than I look.” However, it was his next comment that had her stopping dead in her tracks. So he had realised what she was.
She snorted at how Noah seemed to think that it wasn’t a Quileute thing. “Oh really? I think you’ll find it is a Quileute thing. Our legends go back hundreds of years.” She turned toward him, a smug look on her face, amused that Noah thought it was his tribe’s history. It was probably the Quileute blood in the Makah’s from marriage that had caused them to shift… However this thought quickly left her mind as her eyes found his; dark, alluring and the fire that she could see burning them most certainly set her on fire too.
Her breath quickly became erratic as everything around her seemed to blur except him, all she could see was Noah and as wonderful as it was it frightened her for some reason. She spent so long fighting and hating imprinting, she’d believed so deeply and so thoroughly that it would never happen to her, that it actually happening was almost too much to handle.
Leah took a shaky step backwards, her bottom lip trembling, eyes glazing over with sudden tears. “That’s not possible.”

Noah chuckled shrugging his shoulders as though there wasn’t a heavy weight laying on one of them, ”Now that I don’t belive Clearwater...perhaps we’ll test that theory of yours out someday.” he replied, as she spoke about out running him. Though he didn’t doubt she’d probably give him a good run for his money, if he remembered Leah, she was nothing if not stubborn and determined, and if she set out to prove him wrong you could bet your ass she’d succeed. It frustrated him though that she was still walking away from him, even if her steps had slowed, he still remained rooted in his spot fighting against the urge, the desire to follow after her.
When she mentioned replied to his other comment though, Noah wasn’t sure why but he felt a small growl erupt from his chest. ”Very well....but I think you’ll find little girl, we’ve been here for just as long as your people.” he told her, not having to read her mind to know what she was thinking, but she was wrong, the Makah’s were independent, theirs was a pure bloodline that had nothing to do with Quileute’s, they simply weren’t as cocky about their shape shifter status.
He saw and felt the change in her when she finally relented and turned to face him, and Noah couldn’t help but smirk. So for all her stubbornness she did feel it to, but he also saw fear there and the tears that shone brightly in her beautiful dark eyes, and he found he couldn’t blame her for what she was feeling. It was a scary thing and if he was honest he wasn’t sure he wanted to give into it, if he wanted he knew he could fight it, sure it would more than likely hurt like hell to stay away from her, ”Actually darlin’ I think we just proved it is possible.” he said his voice low and husky.

Her look of shock was quick to turn into an annoyed glare as Noah called her a little girl. Nobody called her that and got away with it; not Seth, not her mother, not Sam and most certainly not her imprint. A low growl rumbling in her throat and Leah quickly closed the gap between them with several long strides; her finger pressed hard against his chest as her other hand pushed the planks off wood from his shoulder. “Let’s get a few things straight shall we?” She said raising an eyebrow as her lips pressed together and the corner of her mouth rose slightly. “Firstly, I am not a little girl and ever call me as such again and you’ll wish you never imprinted on me.”
Digging her finger harder into his chest she took another step towards him so there was almost no space between them; the heat of his body almost over powering. But deep down she enjoyed it, the idea of warmth that was just for her was exceedingly comforting. “Second of all, if, and I mean if, anything should happen between us, just know that my pack and getting rid of those Leeches is my main mission.”
In all honesty, she had no real idea why she was already putting up these barriers between them, but what she did know was she wasn’t going to let this imprinting rule her life like it did with the other members of the pack. She didn’t want to become one of those love sick puppies that pandered to their imprint’s every needs. “And thirdly, what I say goes. Got it?”

Noah shot her a look of amusement when she growled at him, and quickly closed the gap between them both. Though when her finger pressed into his chest and she roughly knocked the planks of wood from his shoulder her growled right back at her, though this time there was no amusement there. He’d purposefully kept the wood from the floor, to avoid any type of water damage which would ultimately ruin it. Now he was short once more on materials for his home, they were only a few things but still. When he felt her finger dig deeper into his chest, his body tensed and he straightened himself up to his full height focusing all his attention of her.
”Your main mission...” he repeated, so the imprint meant nothing to her. It changed everything didn’t she get that? If she didn’t he wouldn’t make any type of exception for her either, he wasn’t a man to bossed around by anyone. When she finished, he laughed gruffly and shook his head, ”What you says goes? Sorry darlin’ I’m not someone you or anybody else is going to boss around, I’m alpha....don’t like it...then lets figure out a way to fight this.” he suggested, brushing past her to pick up the wood.
With little effort he assessed the damage done to them from the water on the ground, and knowing they were all ruined he huffed in frustration and picked them up, launching them all across the road and over the cliff side. ”Great thanks for that princess!” he growled, turning to face her again, waiting for her answer on what she wanted to do with this imprint thing, because honestly he really didn’t want or need this kind of distraction and stress in his life. It hadn’t been like his Dad had promised.

His words and actions seemed to startle her slightly, making her blink as she tried to clear her head and make sense of what was going on. But one thing she could make clear was the look in his eyes; a look so similar to Sam’s when she brought up the fact that he’d made so many promises to her only to break them all. It was an almost pained expression, a strange sort of sadness. “I’m sorry.” Leah managed to breathe hating to see that expression, hating that she was the one that had clearly caused it.
Her voice shook slightly as remorse flooded through her, as she realised how rude she’d been to him. It was strange feeling these emotions she’d been blocking out for so long, that in all honestly, Leah had no idea what to do with them. “I didn’t mean… I just…” She looked down at her feet, unable to hold Noah’s gaze. “I’ve hated it for so long; this wolf thing and the imprinting. It’s ruined my life in so many ways and caused me so much hurt that it frightens me. I never dreamed this would happen to me… I thought…”
Leah wasn’t even sure what she thought any more. One moment she was throwing up walls and now here she was telling Noah pretty much everything. “It’s been such a curse… I’ve lost Sam, Emily and my father to it. I never imagined. I’m sorry.” And that was the second time she’d said that word in less than a minute, who knew that imprinting would have such an effect?
Her head rose a little now as Noah threw the wood over the edge of the cliff and she cringed. “I’ll get you some more… we’ve got loads of spare in my dad’s old garage…”

When she apologised Noah froze in his movements, his footsteps stilling so he didn’t take another step away from her like he had planned to. Her voice shook which startled him again and when he looked up into her beautiful face he saw the anguish there, the remorse and he felt his hardened shell fall away for her once again. He knew she was hurting over Sam, like he’d mentioned there’d been talk about that triangle for months, and he knew she’d gotten the short end of the stick so really he couldn’t blame her for being mistrusting. If he was honest, this imprinting thing scared the crap out of him, for as much as he’d wanted it previously, the death of his family and desire for revenge had wiped it all away. Could he really give himself to someone so completely without scaring them away with this anger inside of him.
“I can’t promise you anything Leah, if I’m being honest this scares the crap out of me. You have issues, big ones I know...but you need to understand that I do too...I’m not the nicest guy to be around anymore, I drink a lot, I’m angry more than normal...” he trailed off, running his hand over his tired face. He was sure Leah knew about what had happened to his family and with her being a shifter he was confident she’d know it had been vamps, but just in case he clarified, “I’m not going to rest till I tear apart the leeches responsible for my families death. he said roughly, his own voice thick with emotion as he remembered his baby sister.
Leah wouldn’t want him, and he couldn’t blame her, he was more hassle than he was worth, it wasn’t fair to think she’d still want to give into this imprint with him. Looking up at her he shot her a grim smile, “Don’t worry about the wood Leah, I shouldn’t have over-reacted...I’m just...not really sure what I am...” he laughed gruffly and shook his head.

She listened silently, slowly lifting her eyes to look at Noah. Her heart ached as he spoke, the sudden need to comfort him almost unbearable. But that wasn't just the imprintal need, it was her own need too because she could connect with everything he'd just said on one level or another. They had both suffered pain and the lose of family because of those blood-suckers and they were both so angry because of it.
"I don't expect you too." Leah said softly. "How could I prevent you from wanting to take that need to revenge your family?" She looked at him fully now a strange understanding bringing her comfortably closer to him. "And I'm not the nicest person to be around either. I'm sure you've heard them calling me a Harlot behind my back, and I guess that isn't so far from the truth." She paused before stepping toward the cliff face, hands digging into her pockets as the wind picked and her her short hair whipped across her face.
It seemed stupid of her to think, but just maybe they'd been brought together like this for a reason? After all, they would both want to comfort and look after the other, to keep them safe but there would be that part of them that understood the other's pain fully enough to let them take what revenge they need, what space they needed.
Leah shook her head, trying not to laugh at her childish thoughts. "Freaks of nature. That's what we are. But I guess we're just going to have to live with it... just don't tell my guys what a softie you've suddenly turned me into. I rather like ruling the roost in my own manipulative way." She then looked at him, grinning almost vindictively. "And trust me, you don't want to see me angry."

Leah could understand his desire for revenge, she wouldn’t hold him back he could sense that, vampires were ultimately what had ruined both their lives. Neither would have chosen this for themselves, despite the fact he’d known it was his destiny, but given the choice he would have chosen to be normal, to live out his years with his family, a nice woman by his side, children, a normal job. Instead what he had was a murdered family, a partially destroyed home, a pack of men relying on him, sleepless nights due to hunting and so much more. Noah felt a lot older than a man his age should.
“People say a lot about me behind my back, some of which I couldn’t repeat to you now...I’ve just learned to let it roll of my back. I am who I am, I hold no illusions to the contrary...you shouldn’t either...” he said with a shrug of his broad shoulders. With a small step he moved to stand beside her though kept a good distance between them, not wanting a repeat of earlier. He chuckled when she called them freaks of nature, he actually agreed with her on that one, freaks of nature with huge chips on their shoulders.
“I wouldn’t worry about me talking to your guys we don’t exactly talk though...with today’s events I can see that changing soon.” He chuckled, looking over at her when she smiled vindictively at him, causing his own smile to widen, ”You angry...now that would be exciting to see.” he winked at her playfully before chuckling again and turning his attention forward.

A short sharp laugh burst past her lips and Leah cocked her head slightly with raised eyebrows, mouth curling into a slight smile. Normally a comment like that would have made her scowl and hit the speaker with as much force as she could possibly muster, but with Noah she couldn't bring herself too. She enjoyed his attention perhaps a little too much. "Don't worry, you'll probably see me angry sooner rather than later."
Leah's dark eyes stayed lingering on Noah, her keen sight taking in every feature, every curve of his bone structure and flutter of his hair in the wind. Her mind wandered back to something he'd said moment's before and her brow began to shift into a scowl. Crap, he was right. Her pack was going to know about him and demand to meet him soon enough. How long could she keep her secret hidden? She rolled her eyes, turning her head back toward the sea. Until she next phased, so knowing her, her temper and lack of control not very long at all.
And then she suddenly felt sick because she had no actual idea to how the boys would react, more importantly Sam. Her jaw locked and she blinked, taking in a deep breath through her nose. Why the fuck did she care so much about what Sam thought? Why was he still there in her mind, making something that should be happy just down right miserable again? "You sure you want to meet them? I wouldn't want to. They're bloody annoying you know." She tried to keep her voice calm, to sound like she was just joking but the hate and annoyance was too strong to completely hide.
