OVERALL Jasper is normally a fairly easy going type of person. It would be hard not to be with chipper Alice by his side all the time. He's incredibly loving toward her, but in a very youthful way, in spite of the fact that he isn't as young as some of the members of his family. He's normally very laid back, though he still struggles with the scent of human blood and he's still working on getting his thirst under control.

Jasper is generally a very happy kind of guy and there isn't much that bothers him all that much, especially now that it seems as though their family is complete. He and Alice are happy together, so there isn't much left for him to want.

HISTORY Jasper Whitlock was born in Houston, Texas in 1944. While he was a major in the Confederate Army, Jasper met with Maria, his progenitor. She turned him as part of her newborn army during the Southern Vampire wars (territorial wars for domination of a particular area). He was one of the most powerful newborns during his time. Eventually he went on to be the trainer of the others in his army. But such killing and destruction wasn't easy for Jasper because he could feel the emotions of the people who he killed. Because of this, Jasper set off to become a nomad, wandering throughout the United States.

When two vampires he had spared told Jasper that vampires in the north could co-exist without the territory wars, Jasper went there to live, and he met Alice in Philadelphia in 1948. With the help of her clairvoyance, she led the both of them to the Cullen clan in Washington State. Alice would become Jasper's mate and the two of them joined with the peaceful clan. Both Alice and Jasper were adopted by the Cullens, and Jasper plays the role of twin brother to Rosalie Hale.

The biggest challenge for Jasper has been learning to feed on animal blood instead of on human blood. However, due to his power of emotional manipulation and his empathy, it is easier for Jasper to exist this way in some ways. He just needs to learn to fully control his thirst instead of allowing himself to give in when he catches a sniff of human blood.
