Okay. He couldn't blame her for thinking that it was crazy. Hadn't he once thought that it was completely absurd himself? It was embarrassing to remember now, and his cheeks grew hot as he considered how he must sound to the girl who stood beside him. "Yeah," he mumbled, feeling off center. "Like wolves. Shapeshifters. Some of us." He cleared his throat. "A lot of us. We're shape shifters." It didn't occur to him until a moment too late that he'd referred to himself as a shifter, and he turned his head to look over at Gracie so that he could check her reaction, but she was facing away from him, and he gritted his teeth in frustration as he reached down into the icy water, pulling out a palm-sized stone and then standing to hurl it at a nearby tree. Mis-judging his strength, the stone took a chunk out of the bark, and he cursed himself for not thinking. He wasn't angry at all, but frustration rippled through him, and at the edges, enough anger for him to feel the tension and the risk of a involuntary phase.
He'd gotten control over it months ago, but that didn't mean that he was always comfortable in his own skin. Haha. "We're shape shifters, Gracie," Jake said as he stared at the back of her head. "Not everybody gets that gene. But I did. I'm a shape shifter. Is that something you're going to be able to live with?" He wasn't sure that she had a choice, and even if she did, he was the persistent type and didn't plan on giving up any more than he'd given up on Bella until she'd become a vampire, something he loathed.

Grace closed her eyes tightly figuring she was simply dreaming, or something like that, Jacob couldn’t be what he was saying he was because, well, shape shifters didn’t exist. At least not outside movies, but then again, she couldn’t deny the part of her which believed him. Was it because of the sincerity in his voice, or simply the connection she felt to him, Grace wasn’t sure? If he was being honest then it changed everything. As she turned to face him once more though, she watched as he launched a large stone into a nearby tree, the bark of it completely coming apart from the large tree. As she jumped from fright, or shock she wasn’t sure, her eyes were wide with disbelief and she couldn’t deny what she’d seen, the incredible amount of strength and force that had gone into the action stunned her as she knew it was more than any normal human could have produced.
“Oh my...” she muttered, her eyes flickering back to Jacob as her hand lowered down from where it had covered her mouth. She could see the incredible amount of tension in his body, he even shook slightly but she wasn’t scared of him at all she found, which again was strange but oddly she didn’t care as she took a step forward to stand beside him at the stream. He was telling her the truth, she knew that now, she could truly ALLOW herself to feel it and instead of scaring her all it was leave her with a whole lot of questions she was bursting to ask. First and foremost, what was this connection she felt to him and what did he mean could she live with it.
“I believe you Jacob, I don’t know why I do because usually I’d be calling you a crazy person right now but as insane as it sounds, I can feel it inside of me, you’re telling me the truth, you’re a shape shifter...now can you tell me...” she trailed off and shook her head, looking down into the stream for a moment before she turned her body right around so she was facing Jacob, sure that with what she was about to admit, HE may be the one to think SHE was crazy “Why is it I feel that way...why do I feel like I’ve known you my entire life and I’ve only just met you...why does...why does it physically hurt to even contemplate walking away now?” she asked him.

Well that was the kind of question that he should have anticipated, but Jacob hadn't, and he turned to look into Grace's eyes for a long moment, trying to determine just how to answer that question. He reached out to brush back a stray strand of her black hair, then shook his head and turned to look back into the stream. "Do you believe in soul mates? That everybody in the world has that one person they're meant to be with, and no matter what happens, they'll always ache to be with them? And how it doesn't really matter if you don't find them, you'll just keep right on looking and looking until you do?" It wasn't quite like that, but similar enough that Jacob thought he could probably give Gracie a reference point for what she was feeling. But this power was almost magical, and it was something that you'd only believe if you could believe that all the other stuff of legends was true. And what modern human would cling to those legends the way one would have to in order to understand where he was coming from.
It was a complicated thing, this imprinting. Although it had been explained to him, it was nothing like the reality of it, and how was he going to explain it to her? She felt it; of that he had no doubt at all. And this might just be the type of thing you had to feel your way through, though at the same time he knew that he owed her an explanation of what was going on. "The wolves... I mean, the shape shifters -- and I don't know if it's different if you're not a Quileaute..." He looked away and wet his lips, trying to think of the right way to put this. "It's called 'imprinting' and it's what happens when we meet our mate. It's... It's hard to explain. But it means that there's not going to be anybody else for me other than you." He shrugged, not sure how else to put it. What was he supposed to tell her?
"I guess it means that you're the most important thing in my life."[/color He couldn't look at her when he was saying this. It was too embarrassing and his cheeks were red-hot with embarrassment. "I'd do anything to protect you. I'd die for you. I'd give my whole life up for you. I won't let you alone for a minute. Even if you run away from me I'll always be in the background. And not in a creepy-stalkerish way either." Once again he shrugged and tossed a small stone into the stream.
"It changes everything. For you. For me. Nothing matters to me more than you." But she'd asked him to explain her feelings, and he couldn't. Not really. The pull was strong for her too and he knew that from Emily, but he wasn't sure what it was for her. "I guess... I guess that for you its kind of like your boyfriend doesn't matter any more because nothing can compare, even if he's the best looking man on the planet. The only thing that matters is being together and not feeling that burning you get when you know that a piece of you has been ripped from your flesh. It's like..." His brain fired, and he brightened somewhat, turning toward her to study her face. "It's like we're one person now and if you separate us it's like taking somebody's leg or their arm. It hurts that much, and there would always be something vital missing."

Grace kept her dark eyes fixed on Jacob, she watched him contemplate her question for a moment as though unsure how he was supposed to answer. He looked at her and she saw him reach up towards her hair but then he seemed to think twice about it and let his hand drop back down to his side, leaving her slightly disappointed. She crossed her arms over her chest, taking a small breath and holding back her own urge to reach out to him. That feeling again confused her but brushing it aside she concentrated back on him as he began to talk. With a soft smile she nodded her head, “I do believe in soul mates, 100%” she said, the notion itself was silly to most people but for Grace she believed in it with all her heart, she’d always hoped she’d one day meet her own. What was Jacob’s point though, did he believe...
As he continued to talk, Grace felt the air around her thicken and breathing became just that little bit harder to do. They’d just met and she was struggling to get her mind around the fact that he was a werewolf and shape shifters were real...now this...she was feeling overwhelmed. He said he’d givie up his life for her, always be there, he’d protect her and she believed him completely. Tears brimmed her eyes because she could feel the truth in Jacobs words, she could feel it thrumming in her own heart, so as well as being overwhelmed she felt a happiness and completeness wash over her entire soul. Nothing matters to me more than you smiling softly she nodded her head, turning her eyes downwards as she gathered her emotions. He didn’t have to worry on the boy-friend front; apparently she was too strange for the guys in her school.
At the amputation reference she laughed lightly and nodded her head, taking a breath as she turned to sit on a nearby boulder, sure her legs weren’t going to support her weight anymore. Running her hands through her dark hair she looked up at Jacob, biting down on her bottom lip, allowing the silence to embrace them for a moment, as her mind and heart raced a thousand miles a minute. The world suddenly seemed completely different; she could feel her dreams, her hopes shifting into something different. The future no longer seemed set in stone, now all she saw was Jacob and if she was truthful with her self that was scary as well as comforting. “This is a lot to...uhm...take in at once...” she said softly, laughing lightly before looking back down at her hands.
“I can feel it though....” she said looking back up at him, her cheeks flushing a deep red, similar to his own, but she didn’t feel embarresed, she was simply overwhelmed. Wiping her eyes she shook her head, “So...so we’re soul mates...your mine...and I’m...I’m yours?” she clasped her hands on her lap, her knees bobbing up and down nervously, “I really never believed this would happen to me...and now it’s all happening at once...it’s going to take a little time to get my head around it all...completely.” she said softly to him, shooting him a small soft smile.

"Something like that," Jacob said as he poked at the silt at the bottom of the stream with a stick. He shrugged again, feeling as though he'd been doing an awful lot of that, but it was strange to have lost the melancholy that he'd been feeling since Bella had been changed. With Grace nearby, it was difficult to maintain the same cynical feeling of loss and disappointment that had been stalking him everywhere he went for several days. The change in mood was disturbing, upsetting, and he thought that once he'd taken her back to the school he was going to go and have a talk with Leah or Bella. Which one he chose depended on how he felt once he was out of Grace's presence, but he thought that Leah would probably put him back in the right frame of mind. Not that he'd forgotten Bella of course, but if he wanted that deep "funk" he knew that Leah could do a great job of making sure that he felt it. "It's not exactly like that. I mean, it's kind of complicated, I guess. It's more than soul mates, or at least... I think it is." He couldn't be sure how it felt for humans to be mated that way, and he wasn't even sure how the imprint felt to the imprintee. His only frame of reference was how he felt, and he was pretty sure that differed from Gracie's feelings.
"I should take you home," Jacob said. It pained him ust to think about it, but she was young enough, he thought, to still be in school and she'd said that she was waiting for her mother. Seeing as she'd only had an hour from that point, he thought it was best that he take her back to the school so that she wasn't considered missing, especially if somebody had seen her with him. He didn't need that kind of publicity, and it was time for him to seek out either Bella or Leah. "I mean back to the school," he corrected as he dusted off his backside and reached out his hand to help her to the feet. He would never be happy standing over her the way that he was, even though he considered himself easily in authority over her. "Come on. Let's get going before you miss your mom. I don't want her thinking I'm some kind of a crazy person. Or, you know, a monster or something." He couldn't help but grin at his own joke.

Grace looked at Jacob and laughed softly, he wasn’t helping her to get her head around this in the slightest, it seemed he himself didn’t quite understand what was happening. Closing her eyes she lowered her head into her hand and bit down onto her lip, doing what she could to stop her mind racing at a hundred miles an hour. Already she could feel a headache forming from all the information she’d taken in, in such a short amount of time, so she gently rubbed her temples, trying to get a handle on things. Grace knew her time with Jacob was growing short, she’d have to head back soon, to her Mother, which in turn meant leaving Jacob and she didn’t like that thought at all, in fact it made her grimace as she opened her eyes and looked up once more, her eyes searching out his hulking, intimidating frame finding a strange sort of peace. As a soft smile fell over her lips, Jacob stood, wiping his pants down before he turned to her, saying it was time they left, he even went as far as to hold his hand out to her.
For a moment she stared at it, a look of surprise and slight disappointment in her eyes. That was it, after everything she’d just learned, after he’d brought her here, asking her to trust him he lay all this new information on her, practically changed her life and now they were to leave, had the hour really past that quickly? She shook her head and looked away from him, accepting the hand he had outstretched to her, she stood. Dropping his hand she brushed the back of her skirt down, unable to shake the knot that had formed in the pit of her stomach. The last thing she wanted was to leave, she wanted to stay with him a little longer, talk this out some more...how was she supposed to go home alone with all this racing through her mind. It wasn’t like she could very well go to her Mother for advice on what to do if a Shape-shifter imprints on you.
Shaking her head, she tucked a curl behind her ear and began taking steps in the direction they had come. “Nah, I doubt she’d think you were crazy or a monster...me on the other hand...I’ve been called both,” she said to him, trying to cover her disappointment and slight upset by offering him a brief smile, before she looked back over his shoulder, to see if he was following her. “Though it’s probably best you don’t walk me right to the car, not sure she’ll be happy seeing me coming out of the woods with a half naked man...” she added with a small chuckle, imaging her Mother’s face if she saw Jacob.

Somehow, the atmosphere felt thick, suffocating and stifling, like the air was more humid than it should have been for the season. The warmth of the day seemed to be quietly slipping behind a cloud, and he could smell snow in the air. Wrinkling his nose, Jacob tossed his head, his neck cracking with the motion, and then instinctively reached out for Gracie's hand. It was surprisingly warm against his as his fingers brushed hers, then he pulled away, giving her the opportunity to make the next move, like a game of cat and mouse as he played with her but also gave her the opportunity to decide whether or not she wanted in on the game. He would never force her. His instinct screamed at him to be whatever and whenever she needs, even if it's not what I want. I know, I know. I got it. Shut UP Sam! Grace would always come first for Jacob, no matter what he wanted, how badly he wanted to be alone with Leah for just five minutes so that he could explain to her what it was like and how he felt and... I just hope that it happens for her. The thought was out before he had a chance to stifle it, and he winced visibly, hoping that he hadn't offended his pack mate. It wouldn't surprise him. Leah was so sensitive these days.
The ground beneath his feet felt strangely cold even through his shoes, and Jake cast a sideways look at Grace to check on her condition. The ground's frozen. That's all. It's just cold and I'm just being -- over -- protective. It would be nice if he could keep the thoughts of the pack out, because he was having a hard time concentrating and it seemed as though he needed all of his focus at the moment. It was hard, with Grace right there, for him to keep his attention on anything but her, but even she didn't drown out the voices in his head. They're always talking. There's always something to say. And they know how badly I want to cup hold onto her and kiss her and do things... HEY! I said SHUT UP! Boy, were they this hard on Sam? The laughter that followed told Jake that maybe they were, and his cheeks grew hot when he thought about it, finally reaching for and grabbing Grace's hand, then bending to scoop her up into his arms as he continued to walk, quickening his pace as he considered the near-hour that they'd had. "I need to get you back so you don't get grounded. I don't know what I'll do if I can't see you," he said as he held her against his warm chest, giving her some of his shifter body heat to keep her warmer as the temperature continued to drop.
It was a moment too late that Jacob realized what was wrong. Not only was it colder, but every sound in the forest had disappeared. The birds were no longer singing, and there were no sounds of small animals scurrying about the ground in the trees. As he focused, even the internal dialog disappeared, drown in his concentration, his ears focused, his nose alert to the scent of... flowers. And sweet. It made him gag, but he held Grace tighter to him, knowing the effect that scent had on humans. "Don't let go. Hold onto me. Tight," he whispered to her, his mouth close to her ear. "Whatever happens, do as I say. I'm not going to hurt you. Understand?"
Following Grace's next post I'm giving 24 hours for any suicidal vampire to show his or her face. If you want to die, PM me. Otherwise I'll assume you don't. If you don't reply within twenty-four hours I'll create an NPC for this purpose. I'm testing a potential plot here as well as having fun with Grace. Please don't let Nat down by not posting so my hands are tied, guys. You've wanted opportunity and now you have it!

Grace felt extremely aware of Jacob, and every move he made, like she was somewhat in tune with everything he was. As she inclined her head to the side to look at him, his attention turned to the sky, she couldn’t fight back the genuine smile that fell across her lips, when he reached for her hand. His unnaturally warm fingers brushing against hers for a moment before he pulled away once more. Biting her lip she laughed softly and turned her focus ahead of her, but not before her own, much smaller hand reached out and slipped into his, feeling strangely comfortable with the gesture. In fact she was quickly finding she liked being like this with him, whether it was the imprint or not she didn’t know...right now she wasn’t sure it mattered either way.
As they began to walk she suppressed a shiver, a frown falling over her soft features, not sure when it had began to get colder. Maybe today hadn’t been the best day to wear this dress, although to be fair she had thought she’d be home long before this and not traipsing through the woods with her...soul mate? The term made her chuckle and shake her head lightly, awed at how quickly one life could change. Before she had time to think on it anymore, Grace found herself surprised once more by Jacob as he oh so comfortably swept her up into his arms, carrying her bridal style as he quickened his steps. His words made the soft blush on her cheeks appear as she smiled at him, not minding their closeness, his body heat shielded her from the cold that had suddenly befallen them, “You know you keep carrying me around like this I may just get used to it.” she joked, her arm resting over his broad shoulders.
Instead of getting a smile for her joke, or even a chuckle Grace was met with silence, and a suddenly tense and nervous one at that. Jacob wasn’t focusing on her, his attention seemed to zoom in on their surroundings, his whole body tensed and she felt his grip on her tighten considerably, though she had no chance to root out the source of his sudden change before Jacob began talking in a hushed whisper, his mouth close to her ear. He warned her to hold on tight and do what he said, why he felt the need to reassure her he wouldn’t hurt her she didn’t know, Grace already knew he would never. When he asked if she understood however she nodded her head quickly, “Yeah...Jacob what is it?” she asked in a soft whisper, as she locked both her arms around his shoulders.

Yeah, lemme just blow the lid off everything she's ever known because that's what she wants to hear; that we aren't the only monsters in the world and that there are all kinds of things to worry about lurking in the dark of the Olympic Peninsula. Right. That's what she needs right now. "Hey baby. I'm Jake and I'm your soulmate. I'm also a werewolf. SURPRISE! But if that's not enough, there's also vampires out there, evil, bloody things that want to kill you all the more because you belong to me!" That's what she needs. Nice stories to take home to her mother and to invade her dreams. Perfect. I love it. Jacob sighed, half a moment befor he caught the scent again, that sickening sweet smell that told him death was nearby and stalking them. He would have to put Gracie down eventually, but for right now he kept his grip on her, holding tightly so that she wouldn't be an easy target. The problem was that if he was going to attack the predator in the forest, he was going to need to let her go and change his form. "In a minute I'm going to have to put you down and change. It might be scary and some things might happen that don't make sense, but I need you to do everything I say. I'm not going to hurt you, but there's something else out there that might want to." But he couldn't quite put her down, couldn't quite let Grace go, not until he saw the threat and knew he had no other choice.
There was a flash to Jacob's right, and he caught sight of what looked like a yellow coat, as though the leech wanted to be caught. He snarled, hugging Grace tight against his chest for half a second before he swung her down and out of his arms in one swift move, positioning her behind him and out of the way of what was about to happen. In seconds he wouldn't be able to communicate with her any more, and he sent out a silent plea to his pack mates to come and help him out. He could hear the response from Seth and Jared, immediate, and he threw his arms back, roaring as he did so. How he'd get Grace home now, he wasn't sure, because within seconds his body had changed, and he was panting, four paws on the ground, his body aching from the muscular and skeletal changes. His eyes narrowed as he saw the flash of yellow again, and he let out a low howl, keeping up the silent mantra that Grace would stay behind him and stick close by. He couldn't communicate verbally now, and that infuriated him.
In this form, his ears were better, and he confirmed that he could hear only one, and smell only one. Alert, he pricked his ears as Quil and Embry came to flank him. He growled, turning his head to look back pleadingly at Grace, then took off into the woods, sending his thoughts out to the others that someone should stay with his imprint or he'd tear them apart the same as they were about to do with the vamp. So much for half naked.
Meta-gaming unplayed characters as NPCs. If somebody takes over their characters before we're done, they can join in Also, one last chance for somebody to make and play the vamp. S/he is going to die, but it could be fun. I'd also like to try out a dice roll system!

Grace kept her arms tightly wound around Jacobs’s shoulders, holding herself impossibly close as he tightened his arms around her. Her eyes searched his face, as a cold ball of fear settled into the pit of her stomach. Something was very wrong; she could see it in his eyes as they stalked their surroundings carefully. He sighed quietly, his grip on her never lessoning as he began talking, though not once did he look at her, his eyes stayed focused. The fear she felt increased exponentially when he warned her that there could be something out there that wanted to hurt her, and that something she knew was here now, she knew just by looking at him. Swallowing back a large amount of that worry she kept her eyes focused on Jacob, her grip on his tightening a little, the last thing she wanted him to do was let her go. If she was honest she was terrified, what was out there, he wasn’t saying but she knew without him saying it was bad.
The snarl he gave shocked her, and within seconds Jacob and swung her back down to the ground and tucked her behind him. Grace’s eyes were widened and she stumbled back a step as Jacob let out a animalistic roar, then before she could blink, breathe, even move again Jacob was gone and in his place was a huge russet coloured wolf. Grace covered her mouth, frozen in place, her heart thudding widely against her chest as she stared dumbly at him. Of course Jacob had told her what he was, she’d accepted that, but seeing him was something different entirely, it nailed home the fact that this was real; all of it there was no pretending otherwise. A gasp escaped her lips at the arrival of two more wolves, both equal in size, flanking Jacobs side. Her eyes zoned in on him once more, tears shining brightly in them, and when Jacob turned to look at her, her trembling hand pressed harder over her mouth, unable to do anything more than watch helplessly as Jacob and the others took off into the steadily darkening woods, leaving her alone and terrified.
“Jake...” she whispered his name shakily, her hands visibly trembling as her eyes darted around the trees. Clumsily she took a step forward so she could turn around, too scared to move but terrified to stay. The woods had always been terrifying for her, but now being alone in them with Jacob gone, chasing whatever had been here, she felt that fear even more. Lowering her arms, she clasped her fists tightly by her sides, her eyes focusing on the direction Jacob had left before she moved again. Perhaps she should just continue on her way out of the woods back to the school, she couldn’t just stay here, not alone, it was getting darker and colder and there was god knows what in the forest. Nodding her head, she focused on the path she had to follow to get out the woods, and slowly and quietly began taking steps to get out here.

It took less than half a minute for Jake to realize that Grace had moved. He growled low in his throat, catching another look at the female vampire who continued to skirt from his view. He turned back, leaping in front of Grace in one bound and then growling low at her correctively. He could hear the pack going off in his head, each of them telling him what their plans were and what they were going to do. He accepted it, but he wanted to fight, not to babysit. That's what Seth was for!
Seth! Jacob sent his thoughts out to the youngest pack member. I need you to guard Grace. Get your furry tail over here. NOW! Although he accepted that he wasn't the boss, this was a matter of life and death, and Seth could help him out so that he could tear the vamp who was stalking his imprint limb from limb.
OMG short! So sorry!

Seth hadn't been far away when he'd heard his name being called and he couldn't help but roll his eyes. OF COURSE Jake was calling him to come babysit. It wasn't like he minded doing Jacob a favor or two, but he'd much rather help out by fighting than by playing babysitter.
'But Jake!' Seth thought aloud as he broke through the trees toward him and Grace. Babysitter wasn't the role that he wanted to be playing but if he asked it of him, he'd do it, even if he wasn't happy about it. But there was a real threat out there and no real time for him to debate, so with a low growl and a huff he nodde his head in the last known direction of the vamp and moved in protectively toward Grace.
'Go on Jake, I got this.' he said then shook his head. 'Even if I'd rather go after the vamp myself. he added with a growl of annoyance.

All she wanted was to go home, to get in her car, drive away and get rid of this crippling terror she felt, though before Grace even got five steps the wolf she assumed was Jacob had appeared out of nowhere, pouncing in front of her. Grace gasped and in shock fell back landing on her butt, her eyes wide and trained on Jacob as her heart thundered wildly against her chest. To make matters worse he growled at her, it was low but enough to make her shuffle back away from him, the tears she’d held back falling. She hated that they’d fallen and wanted to wipe them away but she refused to look away from Jacob, she was confused, scared and simply wanted to go home, why wouldn’t he let her do that. Barely a minute passed though when another wolf showed itself, moving towards her and giving a sort of nod to Jacob.
Grace looked at him, and shook her head, closing her eyes tightly she turned her face to the ground wishing she’d never moved from bed this morning. As she moved again she winced, her back giving a dull tug from where she’d fallen but she ignored it, her eyes flickering between the two wolves, not sure what she expected, but she refused to look Jacob in the eye, not this time.

Does my being half naked bother you?
Jacob gave a low growl at Grace, then tossed his head in agitation and bounded off out into the woods. He trusted Seth to keep Grace safe, and if any of them were going to kill the vamp who might have hurt her, he wanted it to be him. But he could hear from Jared's thoughts that he and Sam were getting close, and Jacob put on an extra burst of speed, the ground hard beneath his paws as he raced after the leech. Sam and Jared were close; he could hear their thoughts as they closed in, and it was all he could do to put on that final burst of speed that broke him from between the two of them and allowed him to leap onto that flash of yellow.
It took half a second for him to tear the leech's head from her shoulders, jerking it to the side and depositing it next to him while Quil phased back to human form to set the entire thing alight. It was done that fast, and he praised Spirit that they were faster than the beasts or the entire place would be at risk of huge catastrophes on a daily basis. He growled, phased back, then tossed his head. Once again, he thought, so much for half naked. I'm going to have to get my hands on some clothing. But just at that moment, somebody tossed a pair of shorts at him and he took them, stepping into them so that he could head back to Grace. "I'll see you later!" he called back to his pack as he raced through the woods to where Grace and Seth were waiting.
"Thanks," he said to Seth as he passed to Grace and wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her against him. She was close enough to kiss, and he almost did, bringing his face down close enough that he was sure she could feel his breath on her. He sighed, then released her with a shake of his head. "Let's get you back to your mom." |

Her only excuse was she was scared; she had no problems admitting so. When Jacob growled lowly at her again she nodded her head gently, not really knowing how she was supposed to get across to him she understood, would feel strange talking to him when she knew for a fact he had no chance of answering her back. As she looked up to him, Jacob turned and bolted off quicker than she could have imagined in the direction he’d headed before leaving her alone with the other wolf. She felt slightly relaxed as she looked at the wolf but still couldn’t shake off the overwhelming fear she felt, what was out there that warranted such security for her, or so many wolves at once?
The ground beneath her was steadily growing colder, as she carried on waiting for Jacob, the minutes passed slowly as the woods grew dark now and she was worried. Her Mother would surely be out now and worrying about her, she could only hope that her Mother was running a little late, though she highly doubted it with her luck today. Pushing herself up off the ground, Grace stayed close to the wolf, not only because she knew that’s what Jacob would want, but because there was a heat emitting from him, she got close enough to feel it, but not close enough to cross some invisible barrier. Wrapping her arms around her torso, her head snapped to the side, the sound of a twig snapping caught both her attention and wolves, though to be fair he looked a lot more relaxed about the sound than she did.
The reason why became clear when Jacob appeared in his human form once more, and a smile spread over her lips. When he reached her Jacob’s arm automatically wrapped around her waist, pulling her against his body and for a moment, her happiness at feeling the incredible warmth coming off him froze in place, as it appeared, just for a moment that he’d kiss her. Grace felt her heart thud wildly against her chest as she felt his breath against her skin, and her eyes fluttered closed, her body humming at the thought of kissing him. Then all at once the moment was shattered and Jacob sighed, his arm falling from around her as he spoke about getting her back to her Mom, he was right of course but she couldn’t help but feel disappointed. Biting down on her lip she nodded, but didn’t move which was strange considering she had no qualms about doing so earlier, looking over her shoulder, she reached for Jacob’s hand and moved to his side. Her hands and arms were freezing, but that wasn’t her reason for being this close to him, she still had no idea what had been in the woods and was still scared, “Let’s go then,” she said softly looking up at him, her head inclining to the side slightly, as she wondered whether he was going to tell her or make her wait till another time, she didn’t mind, not really, her head was already running at a thousand miles per hour with all she knew, “You will tell me what just happened right? What was out there? You don’t have to right now I just...I just want to know you will tell me?” | [atrb=width,100]words ,589 words tagged ,Jacob notes ,Heartbroken this thread is nearly over don't want to finish it! |
