Her foot slipped into the cool water which was quickly followed by the other before she sat on the river bank edge. It was almost soothing, the cool water running between her toes, washing away the dirt from running around the forest for the past few hours. She smiled to herself a little, remembering the look on Paul’s face as she out ran him for the 8th time that day. As much as the guy irritated her, at least he was a good source of amusement for being such a sore loser.
Glancing up at the sound of birds wings rushing through the trees, Leah cringed as flashes of images run through her mind; memories. But they were not her own. Feeling her mouth twist into a frown, Leah shut her eyes, hoping to be rid of the images she’d caught in Sam’s mind earlier that day. It was typical, wasn’t it, that she picked this of all spots to stop for a rest, to give herself a time out from idiotic boys voices rambling away in her mind.
Only Leah could manage to pick the spot where Sam had attacked Emily; an attack that ironically enough had led to their current relationship. Her frown turned into a scowl. “Git…”

Kim was in her room that day just hanging out in there since Jared was off doing something else. She moved her black hair before getting up and off her bed and putting on her boots. She went out of her room and into the hallway. She walked into the living room telling her mom that she was going to go for a hike and well be back soon.
She walked out of the house and took a look around before going off into the woods. She did decide on going for a hike for real that day. She knew that her dad didn't like Jared but she didn't know why though well besides the whole fact that he didn't know about the whole supernatural twist of the aspect behind her and Jared's relationship. She sighed as she moved her hair some before continuing on walking.
She was a small person compared to most of the people that hang around with the shifters which sucks for her. She continued on walking around while hoping she won't get lost. She heard the river and walked toward it when she saw Leah over there. She swallowed some as she knew that Leah was a very grumpy person. She continued on walking over when she heard her say git. She looked at her before licking her lips and saying "Hi Leah." As she walked over to her hoping that she wouldn't mind her being there.

Leah heard Kim approaching from a good mile off. She scowled slightly, tongue clicking in irritation. This was not what she needed right now; to have a 'conversation' with one of their stupid imprints. She raised her head, dark eyes just visible beneath her feather-duster eyelashes as she watched Kim move over to her. She sighed. As much as she'd love to tell the girl to just leave her alone, she really couldn't be bothered with Jared's aftermath for being rude to his imprint.
Instead she leant back on her hands and gave a half smile. "Hey. Should you be out here? Won't Jared be mad if he finds out?" One other thing Leah did not want was to be blamed if Kim got hurt because it would be her fault... it always was her fault some way or the other. She guessed it came with being the only girl of the pack, that as well as the simple fact she was a bitch and probably deserved it.
Reaching up she ran her fingers through her hair, ruffling it slightly. "And are you just going to stand there like an idiot or sit down?" She added a little testily getting easily irritated by the fact that Kim was lurking by her shoulder.

Kim knew that Leah could probably hear her before she saw her. She sighed some as she moved her hair and looked around. She loved being out in the woods despite what the pack says that at times the forest isn't a good place to be. She just wanted to get away from her house and the only way that she knew to do that was to go hiking. Plus she wanted to go hiking that day and she hopes that Jared wouldn't mind about that very much.
She looked at Leah and heard her ask her about why she was out here and that wouldn't Jared be mad if he finds out. She sighed before saying "I probably shouldn't be out here but I am Leah because I wanted to go out on a hike. Plus Jared wouldn't mind as long as I tell him that I needed to get away from my parents and the silent house." She moved some of her hair as she knew that Leah was one of the pack members to not be on her bad side except ever since Leah joined the pack she was always hostile towards her when Kim knew she didn't do anything to her besides being the imprint of Jared's.
She jumped some when she heard the older girl ask if she was going to sit down or just stand there. She sat down as she said "Better?" She looked at her as she said "Leah what did I ever do to you to make you hate me so much? If that is you don't mind me asking." She looked at her waiting while she hugged her knees close to her body.

Leah raised her head, nodding in slight sarcasm at her comment about Jared not minding. "Oh he'll mind. Trust me. I do have to listen to harebrained thoughts all the time." Leah replied dryly. "He won't let you know that it bothers him, he's too madly in love to dare upset you." It made her sick sometimes, the way the pack acted around their imprints, simpering to their every needs and fawning over them as if they were so special.
She didn't see what so special. What she and Sam had once had, that was special. That was real. Not this thing that was forced on them because of primal wolf needs. Sinking her toes into the silt of the riverbed, Leah turned her head toward Kim as she sat down, the younger girls question stinging slightly. "I-I don't hate you." Leah replied quietly, glowering and looking down at her feet. Her jaw tightened and she ground her teeth together slightly, her breathing becoming slightly uneven.
"I don't hate anyone save those Leeches and what I am. I hate what the bloodsuckers have done and how they've ruined my life." Leah couldn't believe she was actually saying this out loud and to someone she hardly knew. "I hate seeing everyone so happy around me when my life is so miserable." She took a shuddering breath and shifted away slightly not wanting to end up hurting Kim if she lost control.

Kim listened to her talk and she said "True. I'm sorry about that since it must suck to have to deal with all of the boys thoughts and your the only girl that can shift." She looks down before adding "It must suck though." She moved her hair some as she was happy that she was finally getting the attention and the returned feelings that she was feeling for Jared to be returned after he shifted.
Kim knows that what she's feeling for Jared is real and she hopes that Jared feels the same way not just because of the imprint thing. She continued on hugging her legs close to her. She looked up at her when she replied quietly to her question. She scoffed some before saying "At times it doesn't seem like it." She put her head on her knees as she listened to what she was saying.
She nodded her head as knew that every single shifter hates the vampires or as they called them leeches. She smiled slightly at Leah and said "It's okay Leah. Maybe one day you can find someone too." She sighed as she moved her hair some.

"I don't need your pity." Leah sneered what little content she'd had with Kim there quickly disappearing. "If I did, I'd be snivelling and moping around like a lost puppy." And there she was building a wall again, blocking out anyone that tried to get near her. It was like an automatic reflex. She was so used to having her mind invaded all the time by the boys that when she wasn't in her wolf form that she couldn't help but force up barriers to keep what she could secret; to stop Sam from seeing her crumble.
She loved him enough that she wanted to see him happy. And cruel as she was to him, she would never let him know that she was actually falling to pieces inside. She knew that would hurt him more than anything and that Leah would not allow not matter how resentful she was about everything that had happened.
Leaning forward, elbows resting on her knees, Leah placed her head in her hands and rubbed her temple. "I'm just happier alone, Kim. It's easier. I don't... You wouldn't understand. I wouldn't even bother trying to if I were you." Her eyes closed and she listened out, deep into the forest. The other wolves were far away, but oddly enough the sound of their paws hitting the ground at a steady rhythm was oddly comforting. "Sorry. I'm not very good company these days."

Kim looked at Leah before looking at the ground and nodding her head. "Okay then Leah." She continued on looking down knowing that she wouldn't be able to talk to Leah. She thought that maybe this was a bad idea with going to talk to her. She didn't get why Leah at one point was starting to open up a little bit and then she tried to be sorry to her but then she got locked out by Leah.
Kim didn't know how to was to be a shifter really but she knew that it must suck though having to be the only female in a pack of shifters that are mostly guys. She shook her head some before hearing her say that she was happier alone. She nodded her head again before watching the other girl close her eyes.
She waited to see if she would do anything that would set off her shifter inside of her but she didn't. So it must have been the other shifters running around or something. She looked at Leah and moved her hair before saying "It's okay Leah." She shrugged her shoulders since she didn't matter with her at all.

"That's what they all keep saying." Leah replied softly, eyes still closed. "That it's okay. That everything will be fine and work out, but I don't see how it can." Her head lifted, her short hair falling back to reveal her perfect copper skin and high cheek bones. "I mean, I know it's impossible. But if Jared left you for someone else, what would you do?" She had a feeling the girl couldn't go on, after all, at school she'd witnessed how captivating Kim had found Jared before he even noticed her.
And yet, now she wasn't even sure if that was what pained her most. Sam was happy, and that was all that really mattered. What hurt the most was that she had no control, that her own anger and self pity had led to father's death.
Leah swallowed thickly, a slight tremor running through her body at the mere thought and she invectively shuffled further away from Kim. "You have no idea what's it's like to have no control. To be unable to be the person you really want to be." Leah had known once, but now it seemed like a distant memory. It was just so much easier to be angry. To take out how she felt cruelly on other people and not care about what they thought. It was easier not being close to someone because it meant there was little space for rejection and betrayal.

Kim looked at her as she nodded her head as she listened to her talk. When Leah asked her what she would do if Jared left her for someone else if he could she looked down and said "I don't think I could move on Leah. So I might understand what you are going through." She continued on looking down at the ground since she didn't know what she would do.
Kim really didn't know what she would do if Jared was ever to go to someone else which she knows that he won't because he imprinted on her but if he ever did she knew she wouldn't be able to continue on living even though she knew that she could.
Kim looked up and saw Leah's body tremoring a little bit. She nodded her head and said "I know Leah but it must suck." She didn't know why she was sad for Leah but she just didn't know what else to do really. She continued on holding her legs as she staid where she was sitting as she was watching Leah.

"You know. I wasn't always such a bitch." Leah said rolling her eyes in slight amusement as she remembered saying almost the exact same words to Jacob once. "I used to be rather nice... and a good laugh." But things changed and so did people.
It was strange really how much that typically used sentence was by people, and Leah didn't really understand how true it was until the Cullen's moved into town and a very big change happened within the Quileute community. It seemed beyond her understanding even now how the mere presence of the Leeches could so quickly bring an old legend back to life.
"Yes. It most certainly does suck, but at least I know the truth now." Leah admitted a terrible sadness in a tone leaving it empty and cold. And as much as it hurt to admit and as much as the truth clawed at her heart; "At least I know Sam didn't do it completely on purpose. At least now I can see how he had no real choice in the matter. But that still makes me wonder if Imprinting is as gooder thing as all the boys and you girls make it out to be?"
